Recently seen movies!
Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit (again): Definitely the best rated G movie I've seen in a very long time!
North Country: Not for kids! Powerful story--could have been told better. Great acting.
Rent: I didn't want to like it because I have a problem with rip-off stories (especially when people go around claiming how "original" they are). And what are the chances of four people with AIDS all finding the right person for them like that? But the music is so infectious and good that I don't know anyone who has seen it and then not run out and bought the sound track. The special features SUCK! there's not nearly enough of them.
To be continued...I have Junebug, Walk the Line and The Weather Man to watch tomorrow and Monday.
PS: Comments removed because I don't want this to turn into a debate about whether Rent is the best thing ever or not. This is a journal for my opinions, not for me to get bashed for my opinions. I saw La Boheme 5.5 years ago, so some of my details of it are a little shady. BUT, any time a story is "based on" (which to me is the same thing as ripped off, particularly when you are coming from a point of view of having already seen the original. Semantics!) something that already exists, comparisons are natural. Doesn't mean the second work isn't good on its own merit.
